Looking for a trusted dog behaviour expert in Perth? Meet Rachel Higgs – the driving force behind FurBaby’s Dog Daycare and a passionate trainer with years of hands-on experience in dog care, canine behaviour, and dog training. Since joining FurBaby in 2017, Rachel has helped shape our dog daycare in Perth into one of the most respected destinations for safe, enriching dog socialisation and behavioural support.

Rachel’s love for dogs began in childhood and has been the guiding force throughout her career. Before joining FurBaby, she spent over eight years working with rescue dogs – caring for animals that had endured severe neglect and trauma. This experience gave her an exceptional ability to understand complex dog behaviour and work with even the most sensitive dogs.

She holds a Certificate III in Companion Animal Services and has trained under many of Perth’s leading dog trainers, continuously refining her skills and staying up to date with the latest in science-based dog training techniques. Rachel blends practical experience with professional education to provide compassionate, results-driven care for dogs of all temperaments.

Rachel is also an accomplished dog sports competitor, having earned multiple awards in dock diving and lure coursing with her late dog Zedd. She’s now building her profile with her current dog Flirt in flyball and dog sledding – further expanding her expertise in canine performance and engagement.

At FurBaby’s Dog Daycare in Perth, Rachel leads with a calm, confident approach that builds trust and brings out the best in every dog. Her training philosophy is based on positive reinforcement, clear communication, and respect – ensuring each dog feels safe, understood, and fulfilled.

Whether you need expert support with your dog’s behaviour or a professional dog daycare service in Perth that prioritises your pet’s wellbeing, Rachel is one of the most dedicated and experienced dog trainers in Perth.

Expert Puppy Trainer in Perth – Meet Ceallai O’Connell

Ceallai O’Connell, expert puppy trainer at FurBaby Puppy School in Perth
Ceallai brings years of rescue and shelter experience to our Puppy School, specialising in positive, reward-based training

Looking for the best puppy trainer in Perth? At FurBaby, our Puppy School is led by the incredible Ceallai O’Connell – an experienced, compassionate dog trainer with over a decade of hands-on experience in dog training, puppy socialisation, and positive behaviour reinforcement.

Originally from Ireland, Ceallai grew up surrounded by animals, fostering dogs and caring for litters from an early age. Her passion became a career when she joined Monika’s Doggie Rescue, a renowned no-kill shelter in Sydney (you can read all about the fabulous work Cali did in an article published by the Daily Telegraph). There, she became the lead dog trainer, responsible for rehabilitating dogs from pounds, many with complex behavioural needs.

Ceallai was trained by internationally recognised dog behaviourists Steve and Vicki Austin, completing her certification with flying colours due to her extensive real-world experience. She went on to develop formal training and rehabilitation programs at the shelter, supporting over 200 dogs at any given time.

Her training philosophy is simple but powerful: dogs should want to work with us out of love and respect, not fear. At FurBaby’s Puppy School, she uses only positive, reward-based training techniques, building confidence, trust, and strong bonds between puppies and their humans.

Ceallai also has experience running puppy classes in veterinary clinics and council parks, and has trained staff in low-stress handling and managing high-risk behaviours in rescue environments. Her deep understanding of dog behaviour and her calm, compassionate approach make her one of the most trusted puppy trainers in Perth.

Whether you’re bringing home your first puppy or want expert guidance during your pup’s critical development stage, Ceallai is here to help your puppy thrive.
